District launches online planning application submission and tracking portal

The District of Muskoka has launched PlanHub, an online portal for submitting and tracking planning applications.

According to officials, the portal is an interactive hub that provides insight into development in Muskoka and offers access to all District-level planning submissions.

“Planning shouldn’t be a roadblock; it should be a roadmap, and we’re continuing to work on improvements. Making the process clearer, engaging communities more, and delivering better service for anyone who’s working to build attainable housing in Muskoka,” said Jeff Lehman, District Chair.

Lehman said launching the portal has allowed them to streamline review timelines, update their growth capacity strategy and peer review requirements, and align these processes with Muskoka’s towns and townships to ensure projects keep moving forward.

“Sometimes land use planning can feel complicated and slow, but here in Muskoka, we’re making it easier to build housing while trying to stay true to the values that make it unique,” said Lehman.

According to officials, the portal allows users to access projects anytime on phones, tablets, or computers, while also enhancing communication among the internal departments responsible for application reviews.

Officials said the PlanHub project was funded by the Rural Economic Program of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the District of Muskoka.
