Huntsville Art Crawl returns for summer run

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) has opened applications for its sixth annual Huntsville Art Crawl, calling on local artists and businesses to take part.

The free, self-guided tour, which will run from June 1 to August 30, invites participants to explore local businesses, galleries, and studios featuring art exhibits, live demonstrations, and interactive experiences. In response to community feedback, the timeframe has expanded this year to cover the entire summer season.

“This increased timeframe offers more opportunities to highlight the amazing businesses and artists in our community while attracting more visitors to our beautiful downtown,” said Dan Watson, HfA executive director.

According to officials, both artists and businesses will benefit from participating. Businesses will be featured as official stops on the tour and included in HfA advertising and promotional materials. Artists will gain exposure, sales opportunities, and access to promotional support, including artist spotlight videos and potential workshop opportunities.

The crawl has a number of special events planned throughout the summer. Wednesday Walkabouts will take place each week in June, offering guided group tours with artist meet-and-greets, music, and social gatherings. Visitors can also observe live art demonstrations, explore outdoor mural tours inspired by the Group of Seven, and celebrate Canada Day with the Canoe Mural Project, a street-art-inspired showcase influenced by the work of Tom Thomson.

Officials say the event has become a popular summer initiative and draws thousands of visitors each year.

“The Art crawl has become a Muskoka summer tradition for downtown Huntsville,” Watson said.

There is no fee to participate, and the deadline to apply is April 16.
