A new walking labyrinth was officially unveiled by Town of Bracebridge officials at Annie Williams Memorial Park on Aug. 12.
According to town officials, this marks the completion of a community-driven project that they say will support mental wellness, accessibility and recreational opportunities in one of the towns green spaces.
They say the labyrinth was built for accessibility and is fully navigable for individuals who use wheelchairs or have visual impairments, by using a single winding path that leads people from the outer edge to the middle.
The idea of the design, officials say, is so individuals may practice reflection, mindfulness and reduce stress.
Officials say, the labyrinth was possible because of Pam and Jeff Rimer, Robert Jacob, the Rotary Club of Bracebridge, and the Bracebridge Muskoka Lakes Rotary Club.
“The labyrinth is a meaningful and inclusive addition to Annie Williams Memorial Park that supports community wellness,” said Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney. “We are grateful for the generosity and vision of [the community]. Together, we’ve created a space that will benefit the physical and mental well-being of residents and visitors for years to come.”
