Moonlight Madness to kick off long weekend

Moonlight Madness returns to downtown Bracebridge on Aug. 1

The event, co-hosted by the Town and the Bracebridge Business Improvement Area will take place along Manitoba Street and Memorial Park in Bracebridge from 6 to 11 p.m.

Officials say Moonlight Madness, previously known as Midnight Madness, has been hosted by the BIA for over 45 years and is a Muskoka tradition that draws thousands of residents and visitors to downtown Bracebridge.

“We’re excited to bring everyone together again for a night that truly showcases the best of our downtown,” said Tracy Larkman, BIA Administrative Coordinator.

Officials say, thanks to a Bracebridge 150 grant, there will be two stages that will feature a variety of local talent.

Main Stage:

Hop Heads – 7:00 p.m.

Mighty Lopez – 8:30 p.m.

Carter Pharaoh Superstars – 10:00 p.m.

Memorial Park:

Liam Kearney – 6:00 p.m.

Stan Simon – 7:00 p.m.

Ayden & Becky – 8:00 p.m.

Dan Purcell – 9:00 p.m.

According to officials, on Manitoba Street there will be fire and magic shows by Bella Magic and Hoop you and live demonstrations by Aerial Ascension Artists, the Neema Children Project, and Big Country Muskoka Kickboxing.

Then over at Memorial Park from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. there will be Cottage Games for families.

“Moonlight Madness has become known for its incredible shopping deals and fun, festive atmosphere,” said Lindsay Alexander, BIA President “Whether you’re here for the music, the shopping, or just to take in the sights and sounds of the evening, there’s something for everyone.”

Along with all the performances, officials say there will be various vendors, a beer garden, and food vendors.

Officials advise, for set up and tear down purposes, Manitoba Street will be closed to traffic from Taylor Road to Ontario Street from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

They say parking will be available in nearby municipal parking lots.
