Cataract services leave Bracebridge for Huntsville

Bracebridge is set to lose its cataract services. South Muskoka Memorial Hospital has dropped the service and moved it to Huntsville. CEO of Muskoka Algonquin Health Care, Natalie Bubela says the hospital added gynaecological in Bracebridge, but in doing so had to remove cataract surgeries.

Bubela explains why cataract surgeries had to be transferred in order to make room for the other service.

Bubela says back in December, the ministry announced the creation of community based clinics. The next step is to put out a request for proposals to become a community based specialty cataract clinic.
