Gravenhurst Public Library to launch new Nature Discovery Packs

The Gravenhurst Public Library will launch new Nature Discovery Packs on May 24, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Jennifer Whipp, children and youth programming librarian, says five new packs, along with other fun collection items, are being added for community use through a partnership with Watersheds Canada.

“We are so excited about this launch. A few years ago, the library added some discovery packs to our collection, and they have been very popular. This is us taking it to the next level,” says Whipp.

Officials say the themes of the packs include Things with Wings, Night Skies and Navigation, Geology 101, Splish Splash and Forest Explorers and add they will be available through the library for a week at a time.

According to officials, the launch will feature an educational lesson about the Watersheds Canada Nature Discovery Pack program, followed by a walkthrough of the packs and their features.

“Participants will also have time to test out the packs, made possible with funding from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and Kawartha Credit Union,” say officials, adding snacks will be provided and all ages are welcome.
