Small barn fire in Huntsville leaves one person dead

One person is dead after a barn fire in Huntsville. Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Chief Steve Hernen says they got called to a house on Brunel Road just after 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Fire crews from Station 40 Baysville found a small barn fully engulfed in flames with a partial roof collapse. Hernen says they were told someone went into the barn to find a dog, but died in the fire. Fire fighters quickly got the blaze under control. The OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshall Office are helping in the investigation. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The name of the deceased will not be released until a positive identification has been made and a relative has been contacted.
