Watermain flushing underway throughout Muskoka

You may notice the water from your tap is cloudy or discoloured, but officials with the District of Muskoka say it’s nothing to worry about.

They explain as part of the district’s regular maintenance program, they will be doing water main and hydrant flushing from May 1 to June 28.

Officials say if you notice cloudy or discoloured water, you should run cold water through your tap for a minute or two or until it turns clear again. They add you may also experience reduced pressure which is also normal.

Even if the water is discoloured or cloudy, they say it’s still safe to drink, however, it could stain your laundry, so officials recommend checking your water before using it to clean your clothes.
