Lake of Bays reviews possible firearms bylaw

A firearms bylaw in Lake of Bays has been taken back to the drawing board for tweaking. There were some concerned about the original document. Mayor Bob Young says residents thought the town wanted to enact the bylaw during hunting season.

Young says some residents also had an issue with details about the use of firearms and discharging them on private lands.

Mayor Young says the town also wants to look at regulating the use of high-power bows, which can be as lethal as a firearm. Young says it’s important to have this bylaw during summer when the town’s population increases.

Young also says the OPP advised the town to have a bylaw like this in place. The bylaw will come before council next month.
