Contractor named for ‘Bay and Beyond’ project in Gravenhurst

Trisan Construction, based in Schomberg, Ont., will handle the three-year “Bay and Beyond” project in Gravenhurst.

The District of Muskoka’s Engineering and Public Works Committee approved the contract during its April 17 meeting. The company submitted a bid of $9,933,466.60 to do the work.

The multi-phased project is slated to start in late May 2024 and will see aging underground infrastructure replaced over a 1.9 km stretch between Gull Lake Rotary Park and the Muskoka Wharf.

Mark Misko, director of engineering and transportation for the district detailed in his report how the first stage of the project will run from late May to the beginning of Oct. between Steamship Bay Rd. and the west entrance into the Muskoka Wharf parking lot near The Shipyards retail store.

Misko explained how much of the underground infrastructure set to be replaced is past its best-before date, adding some was installed as far back as 1944.

The district is hosting a public information session on Wednesday, May 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Residence Inn by Marriott at 285 Steamship Bay Rd. in Gravenhurst.
