Huntsville’s Nelson wins third fight in a row

Kyle Nelson kept his winning streak alive over the weekend in Atlantic City.

He beat Bill Algeo at the latest Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event. The Huntsville native won four minutes into the first of three rounds thanks to a referee stoppage.

Nelson’s UFC record is now four wins, four losses, and one draw.

The crowd packed into Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey voiced their displeasure with the early stoppage booing Nelson during his post-fight interview.

“If the ref had let it go a little longer, I would have probably finished Bill a couple of seconds later and then I might have gotten something like knockout of the night or a big bonus,” says Nelson.

Only 10 days before his bout, Nelson celebrated the birth of his third son, Knox, with his fiancé Claudia.

“It definitely made the training camp and the fight a little hectic,” he says.

Claudia, his in-laws, and Knox were able to attend the event.

His older brothers, Corbin and Griffin, may be jealous, though, because neither of them have been able to see their dad fight in the UFC yet. Nelson points out the pair enjoy watching UFC and are often with him when he’s training for his fights.

The quick win means the 32-year-old didn’t take much damage. He hopes to fight again in June or July.
