Muskoka Bay Park to be closed until spring 2024

It has been over a month since the Tiki Taka food truck exploded at Muskoka Bay Park in Gravenhurst and the area will not be opening anytime soon.

The park has been closed since Oct. 1 and town officials said Friday it will stay closed until the spring of 2024.

“There is quite a bit of work ahead of us and this will be spearheaded by the food truck operator’s insurance company,” explained Andrew Stacey, Director of Infrastructure Services. “There is debris embedded in the ground. They need to remove this debris and that will involve also removing soil from the site.”

Officials say another update is in the works once the clean-up plan is finalized.

“We know this park is an incredibly valued part of our community and we want to return it to pristine condition,” said Mayor Heidi Lorenz.

The Ontario Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the explosion. No one was injured in the blast.
