Transit funding coming for District of Muskoka, three municipalities

The District of Muskoka, Bracebridge, Huntsville, and Parry Sound are getting a piece of the $505 million that’s being invested by Ontario to “help them deliver safe and reliable transit.”

According to the office of Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith, the Town of Huntsville will get $26,339, Bracebridge is receiving $22,039, District of Muskoka will get a cheque worth $7,239, while the Town of Parry Sound will put $5,000 to good use.

“Our government is stepping up and investing historic amounts into our municipalities,” says Smith. “While public transit operations in our riding are small compared to the big cities, they’re vital for many residents. This additional funding will help deliver safe and reliable public transit for those who need it most.”

The funding is part of the fourth phase of the federal-provincial Safe Restart Agreement. Smith says that “small town Ontario” is “finally” getting the recognition and investment it needs. “This government has repeatedly shown its commitment to small, rural, and northern communities,” he adds.”
