The Town of Gravenhurst has opened the application process for owners to begin the process to get a short-term rental (STR) license.
The application is available online and it, along with paying an annual fee of $750, are required to get a license. The license will be valid from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023.
“Along with the new by-laws being implemented, those who operate an STR within Gravenhurst are still expected to follow other municipal by-laws that address many of the behaviours that have been described as problematic,” said Kristen Ford, Manager of bylaw Services. “These by-laws include those related to open burning, noise, parking, property standards, dark sky lighting, site alteration, and site plan control. The town’s by-law department will continue enforcement of these by-laws.”
In the new year, the town’s new administrative monetary penalty system by-law will go into effect allowing them to enforce compliance with regulatory requirements, instead of having to go through the provincial offenses court.
Town council approved the STR license by-law in June. It requires everyone who operates an STR in Gravenhurst to apply for an annual license.
