CP Holiday Train rolls into Cottage Country

The first cross-continent tour for the CP Holiday Train in three years will see it make a stop in MacTier.

The train will be in the Georgian Bay community at 2:50 PM at the Old CP Station on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Country singer Tenille Townes and Aysanabee, who is Oji-Cree from the Sucker Clan of the Sandy Lake First Nation, will perform at 3 PM.

The show is free to attend. However, officials with CP ask attendees to bring a non-perishable food item or cash, which will be donated to an area food bank.

The train will also be stopping in Barrie at Anne St. N. and Wenden Ct. at 12:15 PM and Parry Sound at 1 Avenue Rd. at 4:15 PM on Nov. 30.

“I’m grateful to the CP team members who adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver two exceptional virtual Holiday Train shows and to all those who continued to donate while we kept community members safe,” said Keith Creel, CP’s President and CEO. “The Holiday Train is all about families and communities coming together to celebrate the season and help those in need. We are excited to be back out on the rails and in our communities, taking these two beautiful trains across our network and sharing the joy that comes with gathering in the spirit of giving.”

Officials boast that since the holiday train program launched in 1999, $21 million has been raised and over five million lbs. of food have been handed over to food banks.
