The local fire department is taking part in this year's Run for the Cure

Today, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department has officially launched their campaign for the upcoming CIBC Run for the Cure. Deputy Fire Chief Gary Monahan says there isn’t a member in the department who isn’t affected by cancer directly or indirectly at some point in time.

Their slogan this year is Breast Rescue, which is printed in pink t-shirts they have available for you to get for a minimum $25 donation. Run for the Cure is happening in Bracebridge on October 5th. The fire department will be fundraising from now until then, with all the money going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Volunteer Co-Run Director for the Run for the Cure Kelly Millson says it’s great having the fire department take part this year.

This Saturday, firefighters will be at the Capstone Market by the new Tim Horton’s armed with squeegees and ready to clean up your windows for a donation. For more information and to register for the run, you can go to the Run for the Cure’s website.
