MAHC makes changes to hospital parking rates

Parking rates at Huntsville Hospital and South Memorial are changing. Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare says it will take effect this month. At both sites the new rates will see drivers paying $3 for the first half-hour, and $2 for each subsequent half hour to a max of $7 per visit. You would also pay $30 for weekly parking, $50 per month or $240 for six months.

CEO Natalie Bubela says as MAHC continues to operate with reduced funding under Health System Funding Reform, MAHC is expected to look at all opportunities to reduce operating costs and increase revenue. She says parking is one of very few revenue-generating activities available to hospitals. Bubela also says parking revenue supports direct patient care, and helps offset the cost of parking lot maintenance.

Also changing is the parking system at South Memorial Hospital. It will change from a flat fee to a time-based system. You will take a stub when you get into the parking lot and keep it with you until you have to leave. There will be a pay-on-foot station inside the hospital lobby where you can pay for your ticket by cash or credit.
