UPDATE: Muskoka opens applications for Emergency Child-Care

Applications are now open for Muskoka’s Emergency Child-Care services.

The ECC spaces are expected to be available by Jan. 10th, and come at no cost, according to officials.

Slots are limited, and the district says available space will prioritize: health care staff, first responders, workers at medical product manufacturers or distributors, those in fields related to COVID-19 vaccine distribution, child care staff, and correctional service staff.

District officials say they will work with child care operators in the region, school boards, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and provincial officials to make it work.

They note that the eligibility criteria comes from the provincial government, not the district, and can be found here.

Students are set to return to virtual learning on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

The district has set up a tab on its website to provide updates on the program.
