Canada's top privacy agency loses the personal info of millions

More than half a million Canadians’ personal information has been lost and wasn’t properly secured. According to the country’s top privacy watchdog an external hard drive that disappeared two years ago had no password protection or encryptions. The drive belonged to Employment and Social Development Canada and contained names, addresses and financial data of 500-thousand-plus-people given student loans. So far there’s no sign any of the information has been used by criminals.
