Bracebridge mayor wants new bus system by 2016

Bracebridge wants the province to take a closer look at how it helps fund startup bus services. Mayor Graydon Smith and others were able to address the issue recently in Toronto. Currently there’s gas tax transfer money available to fund parts of existing transit system operating costs, but no money for startup bus systems. Bracebridge is hoping to get its own bus system off the ground in the next couple of years. More from Mayor Smith…

The current plan would see Bracebridge fund a new bus system’s startup costs in 2016 to the tune of $353,000 and over $160,000 each year for two years following that.
