Severn Bridge rowers bring home the gold

A pair of local rowers have returned home champions. The US Masters National Rowing Championships were held on the Grand River recently in Grand Rapids Michigan. 1,480 Masters Athletes from 140 clubs from both the United States and Canada competed in a 4-day event between August 14 and 17th. Competing for the Severn River Rowing Club were Diane Barr and her sister Kathryn Barr McGill, who excelled at the championship regatta winning 6 gold medals and 1 silver. Diane Barr also won an impressive 5 golds in the following events:

Women’s Ltwt D -J 4x Chinook Performance Racing Composite Crew

Women’s Ltwt E 4+  Chinook PR

Women’s Ltwt D 1x Severn River Rowing Club

Women’s Open E 8+  Chinook PR

Women’s Open D 4x Chinook PR

Diane also earned a silver medal in the Women’s Open D Double sculls event racing with her sister.  Kathryn also won gold in the Women’s Open Coxed 8+ with Chinook Performance Racing.
