Huntsville Hawks to celebrate minor lacrosse championship with downtown parade

The Huntsville Hawks are getting ready to take to the streets of downtown Huntsville.

The Huntsville Hawks Minor Lacrosse championship parade will take place August 31, beginning at 5:15 p.m. at the Canada Summit Centre.

According to officials, OPP vehicles will lead the parade along Main Street, travelling from Centre Street to Brunel Road. The parade will then turn right onto Brunel Road before returning to the Canada Summit Centre at approximately 5:45 p.m.

The celebration will continue with the Huntsville Hawks Awards Banquet, taking place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Canada Summit Centre.

The Town of Huntsville is advising residents to expect rolling road closures and traffic disruptions in the downtown core for the duration of the parade.

Road closures include Main Street East, from Centre Street to Brunel Road, as well as Brunel Road, from Main Street East to Park Drive at the Canada Summit Centre.

The Hawks are part of Huntsville District Minor Lacrosse, which offers programs for youth between the ages of four and 17. Officials say the league has had a successful year, with the U9-1 division winning the B division championship on August 4.
