Hospice Muskoka has announced that Chief Executive Officer Donna Kearney will retire at the end of the year, after six years with the organization.
Officials said Kearney joined the organization in 2020 as NP-Medical Director at Andy’s House, Ontario’s first Nurse Practitioner-Led Hospice. The following year, she took on an expanded role, adding Executive Director to her portfolio and earlier this year became CEO.
“It is time for me to pass the torch to the next leader who will carry forward the Board’s next strategic vision,” said Kearney. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this organization and the community, and for the extraordinary commitment of the people who make this work possible every day.”
Officials said that during her tenure, she has achieved full accreditation from their governing body, Hospice Palliative Care Ontario, for the delivery of residential palliative care, community programs, and grief and bereavement services.
The organization said Kearney will continue leading the team of staff and volunteers she helped establish over the next six months. The team oversees the 10 beds at Andy’s House and several community programs, including the new Andy’s House at Home initiative, which provides palliative care services in people’s homes.
Over the next six months, the Board will conduct a recruitment process to find the talent required to lead our organization into its next chapter.
