New pedestrian crossing planned for Brunel Road in Huntsville

Pedestrians will soon have a safer way to cross one of Huntsville’s busiest roads.

The District of Muskoka has announced plans to install a new pedestrian crossing on Brunel Road near Cora Street East. The crossing, which will feature overhead signage and bright flashing lights and will require vehicles to stop for pedestrians, is designed to improve visibility and safety for both pedestrians and motorists.

According to officials, construction is expected to begin in early July, with the crossing expected to be operational by late summer.

Officials said the project is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to improve local infrastructure and enhance road safety throughout the community.

Motorists may encounter temporary traffic disruptions throughout construction, as Brunel Road may be reduced to a single lane at times. Drivers should expect possible delays and are encouraged to use caution when travelling through the area. Signs will be posted to help guide drivers safely through the construction zone.

Municipal511 updates will be provided to navigation services such as Google Maps and Waze.
