Lake of Bays facility closures continue as township assesses situation

The Lake of Bays Community Centre, Arena, and Library in Baysville remain temporarily closed as staff continue to assess an issue affecting part of the property.

According to the township, ongoing assessments show the impacts remain limited to a specific area of the site, including part of the parking lot and an adjacent maintenance room, which remains restricted under a formal order.

Officials said the closure was implemented out of an abundance of caution and will remain in place while work continues.

Township staff are now exploring how the rest of the facility may be safely reopened. However, officials said that several key building systems required to operate the facility are located within the restricted maintenance room, making the process more difficult.

The public water refill taps at the arena are currently unavailable while staff investigate alternative options. In the meantime, residents can access water refill stations at Station 2 Port Cunnington on Fox Point Road and Station 3 Hillside on Limberlost Road.

Residents are being reminded to respect all fencing and signage at the site and to avoid entering restricted areas.
