The Ministry of Natural Resources flood warning continues to be in effect for the District of Muskoka.
According to the Town of Huntsville, water levels have increased significantly due to ongoing snowmelt combined with recent rainfall moving through the watershed. Officials are urging residents to take all necessary precautions as conditions evolve.
Current road closures include Old North Road from civic address 137 to Fowlers Road, Silver Sands Road at civic address 58, Dyer Memorial Road, and Cann St. from John St. to Chaffey St.
In addition, the town has issued cautions for several other roads where water is present, but routes remain passable. These include South Drive, Harp Lake Road at Ena Drive, Old Muskoka Road, Sam English Road, Whitehouse Road, Rockhaven Road, Glen Acres Road, and Stephenson Road 12 West.
Locations closed due to flooding include Town Dock Park, Hunter’s Bay Trail, Indian landing, Avery Beach, Goodwin Park, Brunel Locks, Riverview Park, Rowe Dock, Buck Lake, and Hutcheson Beach.
As flooding occurs, town crews are actively placing barricades and signage where needed. Residents are advised to drive with caution, obey posted closures, and avoid flooded areas.
Sandbag materials are available for residents to fill 24/7, with pickup locations at the Active Living Centre in Huntsville and the Port Sydney Fire Department.
Town officials say they will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as needed.
