The 2026 Winter Paralympics have drawn to a close and Bracebridge’s para-Nordic skier Collin Cameron has represented Canada once again with multiple top 10 finishes.
Cameron’s best result came in the men’s sitting 10-kilometre cross-country race, where he placed fifth. He also finished sixth in the men’s 10-kilometre interval start sitting event, seventh in the para biathlon men’s individual sitting event,10th in the men’s sitting 20-kilometre event, and 11th in the sitting sprint.
“I’m feeling really, really good right now. As bad as the weather was, (it’s about) finding the joy in it,” said Cameron to Canadian Paralympic Committee officials at the finish line of the men’s sitting 20-kilometre race, which was his fourth top 10 finish of the Games.
While Cameron did not reach the podium this Paralympics, he remains one of Canada’s most decorated para-Nordic athletes. He entered the Games as a six-time Paralympic bronze medalist, having previously captured medals at the 2018 Winter Paralympics and the 2022 Winter Paralympics.
The 2026 Winter Paralympics were held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, from March 6 to 15 and brought together athletes from around the world competing across several winter para-sports. Canada entered with 46 athletes across six sports and finished eighth overall in the medal standings, with three gold, four silver, and eight bronze.
