Bracebridge is seeking public input on a proposed Municipal Services Corporation (MSC) dedicated to advancing the town’s tourism sector.
According to town officials, since implementing the four per cent Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) last October, Bracebridge has been collecting fees on all local overnight stays. However, the Town has lacked an eligible tourism entity to receive the 50 per cent share of funds mandated by the province to support local tourism.
In June 2025, Council directed staff to begin establishing a non-profit, non-share capital Municipal Services Corporation, proposed to be named the Bracebridge Tourism Development Corporation.
Officials said under the current proposal, the Town would maintain sole ownership of the Corporation, with Council appointing a Board of Directors to guarantee transparency and alignment with community goals.
To ensure informed decision-making, Town officials are inviting public feedback on the proposed creation of the Bracebridge Tourism Development Corporation.
Residents are encouraged to review the Draft Business Case and provide their insights through an online survey regarding the management and investment of MAT revenue.
Submissions will be accepted until Jan. 30.
