Ironman Muskoka just six months away

Planning is underway for the 2015 Ironman Muskoka.

The Ironman Muskoka Experience Committee (IMEC) Chair Ray Love says the committee is full of energetic, community oriented people who are working hard behind the scenes to make this event a success. The full Ironman triathlon is happening on Aug. 30, but Huntsville was awarded the contract to host it in 2016 and 2017 as well.

The race starts and ends at Deerhurst Resort with a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike and 42 km run. This year’s event will offer 50 age group slots to the 2016 IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii on Oct. 8, 2016.

Huntsville Mayor Scott Aitchison says it’s a wonderful opportunity for the town to show itself to the world and to continue to promote the community as a world class destination for sport tourism.

Members of IMEC are Ray Love (Chair), Myke Malone (General Manager), Rich Trenholm (Medical Lead), Scott Ovell (Financial Chair and Town of Huntsville Representative), Mark Sinnige (Chair Athlete Experience Committee), Kelly Haywood (HLOB Chamber of Commerce Representative), Geoff Monarch (HLOB Chamber Intern), Colleen Valliere (Chair IRONMAN Volunteers) Todd Croxall (Chair Business Engagement Committee), Danny Jackson (Deerhurst Lead), Nick Stoehr (IRONMAN Race Director), Mitch Fraser (IRONMAN Race Director), Chris Occhiuzzi (Communications Chair), Bryn Allison (Special Events Chair).
