Gastro-related outbreak declared at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital site

The Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC), in consultation with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, has declared a gastro-related outbreak on the East and South Wings at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH).

As a result, general visitors are not permitted, and visitation is restricted to one essential caregiver per patient. Essential caregivers are also required to wear a surgical mask and any other personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed by the care team.

According to officials, as part of the outbreak management protocols, testing of both patients and staff is ongoing.

Enhanced cleaning practices are also underway to help prevent further spread.
