The Downtown Huntsville BIA is hosting the first-ever Harvest Feast on Sept 13 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Rachel Hunt, BIA Executive Director, said it is a free event created by their committee so the local community can “just come together, reconnect and celebrate the heart of Huntsville.”
“It’s something that will feel like a bit of a hometown homecoming after a busy summer season,” she said. We just really want to bring some fun into the downtown and help the businesses on Main Street in kind of that off shoulder.”
She said some of the things people can expect include live music, fall-themed food, and flowers lining the street. Other activities include horse and wagon rides, a licensed street area, and a Beavertails challenge.
“We’re transforming the main street right now with bales of straw and corn stalks, and we’re really turning this into…a fall wonderland in downtown,” she said.
As a result, Main Street East from Brunel Road to Centre Street, West Street South from Main Street to the Pharmasave parking lot entrance and West Street North from Main Street to the Royal Bank parking lot entrance will be closed from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the event.
Town officials said the Pharmasave parking lot entrance and the Royal Bank parking lot entrance will remain open and accessible.
Officials said barricades will block vehicular traffic from the event area, and detour signage will be posted.
