YWCA Muskoka has received a $15,000 donation from the Silver Slicers ‘Boost-a-Cause’ Golf Tournament to help support summer camps and fall programs for youth in the region.
Officials at the YWCA, say the four-year partnership has helped eliminate cost barriers, allowing local girls and youth to participate in camps and programs.
This year’s donation will fully fund the YWCA’s Girlz Unplugged Summer Camps, allowing girls in Muskoka to take part in an empowering, connection-filled summer that they may not have had the opportunity to participate in otherwise.
“Supporting this type of fabulous youth programming has been one of our main tenets since our inception,” said Tournament Chairman, Darren Growen. “And we are proud to be associated in some small way to lend a helping hand.”
YWCA officials say because of the donation, they will be able to offer more school-based youth programs this fall. Those programs hone in on healthy relationships, leadership, and preventing gender-based violence.
“Because of this subsidy, my daughter is able to attend a camp that would otherwise be out of the question. She can be a kid, worry free,” said one local parent in a statement through the YWCA. “As a mom, who’s a survivor of domestic abuse, her worry free kid life is all that matters. This allows her to not be impacted by choices made by others and enjoy herself!”
According to officials at YWCA Muskoka, their youth programs continue to grow because of the commitment of local supporters like Silver Slicers Boost a Cause.
