The District of Muskoka will begin installing a new concrete curb and asphalt median on Muskoka Road 118 in Bracebridge.
According to officials, the work follows last week’s removal of the concrete barriers and existing asphalt, as well as the preparation of the gravel base for the new median.
Officials said the new permanent median, part of the district’s safety enhancements, will restrict left turns to improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and businesses. Drivers will instead be directed to nearby traffic lights to make safe turns, rather than crossing multiple lanes from private driveways.
To allow crews to work on the improvements, officials said single-lane closures in both directions will remain throughout the month of September and early October.
