Health Unit to operate two vaccination clinics for Grade 11, 12 students across Muskoka

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit will be operating vaccination clinics in Muskoka for Grade 11 and 12 students.

According to officials, clinics will be available at high schools in Gravenhurst and Huntsville as of Sept. 10, offering students the opportunity to update their immunization records and avoid school suspensions.

Officials said students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. In Gravenhurst, clinics will run Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. In Huntsville, clinics will be available Thursdays during the same hours.

Health officials said students attending a school clinic should bring a record of their immunization dates. Public health nurses will review the records, confirm immunizations are up to date, provide any missing vaccines and update the records.

Those who receive vaccines from a health-care provider must report them to the health unit through smdhu.org/ImmsOnline or by calling 705-721-7520, ext. 8827.

The health unit said currently, more than 4,000 students entering Grades 11 and 12 across Simcoe-Muskoka could face suspension due to incomplete immunization records.
