Two charged following drug trafficking investigation in Gravenhurst

A 38-year-old Gravenhurst resident is among two charged following a drug trafficking investigation in a local apartment complex.

According to police, earlier this summer the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began an investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity occurring at an apartment complex on Bethune Drive South in Gravenhurst.

Police said on July 10, crime unit investigators executed three search warrants at the apartment complex, with the assistance of the OPP tactics and rescue unit, emergency response team, K9 Unit, and officers from the Southern Georgian Bay, Orillia and Bracebridge detachments.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Gravenhurst resident was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and a 26-year-old Etobicoke resident was charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Both are slated to appear in court on Aug. 25.
