A 19-year-old from Bracebridge is facing multiple charges after fleeing police in Muskoka Lakes.
According to police, at about 6 p.m. on July 3, a Bracebridge OPP officer conducting general patrols on Muskoka Road 118 near Pine Glen Road in Muskoka Lakes spotted an eastbound vehicle driving erratically.
Police said the officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled the scene at high speed. The officer did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety and the safety of other road users.
The OPP said the vehicle was later located in Port Carling and a traffic stop was successfully conducted.
As a result, a 19-year-old Bracebridge resident was charged with dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer, stunt driving, and failing to display two license plates.
The accused is slated to appear in court on Aug. 25.
