Gravenhurst Health Hub hosting barbecue fundraiser June 26

A charity barbecue fundraiser in support of the Gravenhurst Health Hub will be held on June 26 at the Sobeys parking lot in Gravenhurst from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“We will be serving up freshly cooked barbecue foods donated by Sobey’s and some of their suppliers to raise money for our health hub project at 5 Pine Ridge Gate in Gravenhurst,” said Bruce Hemphill, chair of the Gravenhurst Health Hub board.

Hemphill said this is the second year they’ll host a charity barbecue fundraiser in support of the project. Last year, they raised almost $2,500. This year, they hope to surpass that mark.

“We are continuing to raise funds for our major project to construct space at the Gravenhurst Health Hub to enable the recruitment of new family physicians and nurse practitioners,” he said.

The Health Hub project is a community-led initiative aimed at expanding access to local primary care, diagnostics, and wellness services by transforming the second floor of a two-storey building already owned by the Cottage Country Family Health Team.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by mid-July.

Hemphill said fundraising efforts are ongoing and that approximately $1.2 million has been raised so far, including contributions from the Town, the District of Muskoka, the Rotary Club, and the Cottage Country Family Health Team.
