Kate Monk, a Muskoka resident and metastatic cancer patient, raised over $21,000 through her “1-hr Solo Dance Walk” fundraiser to support those living with the disease.
The event took place on June 20 at the former Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School track.
According to Monk, the fundraiser aimed to showcase the realities of living with the disease and how, no matter the battle, people can still thrive and have fun.
She says funds collected will go toward the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.
Monk said she is pleased to give back to the centre as she marks one year since her diagnosis.
