With warmer months on the horizon, Huntsville residents are being encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help freshen up the community.
A series of community clean-up events will take place throughout Earth Week from April 20-24 at various locations across the region. Town of Huntsville officials said the initiative is a great opportunity for residents to show community pride while helping tidy up local parks, streets, and public spaces. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided to volunteers.
Clean-ups will kick off April 20 at the Aspdin Community Hall, followed by a gathering on April 21 at the Huntsville Public Library.
On April 22, volunteers can choose between clean-ups at the Canada Summit Centre and Muskoka Heritage Place.
Efforts will continue on April 23 and focus on the downtown core, including areas such as River Mill Park, the town docks, and several main streets. Participants will meet at Town Hall before heading out. Afterwards, volunteers are invited to enjoy a complimentary barbecue hosted by the BIA and the Rotary Club of Huntsville. An additional clean-up will also take place that afternoon at Utterson Community Hall.
The week wraps up April 24 with clean-ups at the Huntsville Fire Hall, Hutcheson Cemetery, and Port Sydney Community Hall.
In addition to the clean-up events, residents can also take advantage of the annual compost giveaway at Conroy Park on April 22.
