Huntsville SnowFest to light up weekends at River Mill Park

Huntsville SnowFest is set to transform River Mill Park into a winter destination every weekend from January 30 to March 8, bringing interactive, family-friendly experiences to the heart of downtown.

At the centre of the festivities is the Cedar Canoe Books Ice Rink, illuminated by a canopy of sparkling lights throughout the season.

Friday nights will feature Glow Nights, turning the rink into a high-energy skating dancefloor complete with LED displays, black lights, and live music from DJ Chris Jones. Skaters are encouraged to wear neon clothing for the glow-in-the-dark experience. Staff will offer face painting, glow necklaces, and a glow-themed photo booth. On Valentine’s Day, the rink will be decorated with more than 1,000 battery-powered candles, creating a romantic atmosphere for the occasion.

Saturday evenings will host Skate-in Movie Nights, with classic, family-friendly films projected onto a giant inflatable screen beside the rink. Costumed characters from the movies will skate and interact with attendees. Fresh popcorn will be available, along with free hot chocolate provided by Tim Hortons.

“The canopy of lights sets the perfect cinematic glow, blending the joy of skating with the magic of the big screen,” said officials from the Huntsville SnowFest team.

Sundays will offer a more relaxed atmosphere with Caesar Sundaes, featuring build-your-own ice-cream sundaes for kids and Caesars for adults. The day will also include music, children’s games and activities, and an outdoor fire.

Outside of scheduled events, the Cedar Canoe Books Ice Rink will remain open daily for regular use, weather permitting.
