The Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst was buzzing with excitement on December 20, as Floathaus, a new Nordic-inspired lakeside spa, officially opened to the public for the winter season.
Members of the local community gathered to celebrate the occasion and try out the spa’s wellness offerings, which includes a traditional wood-fired sauna on a floating dock, a cold plunge into Lake Muskoka, and indoor and outdoor lakeside relaxation.
The event also featured a Christmas mini market from local vendors across the region and a ribbon cutting ceremony in the afternoon with Gravenhurst Mayor Heidi Lorenz, and various members of the council.
Floathaus is owned by Allison Torrie Clark and Kelly Bos, who opened Muskoka Mind and Body in March 2020, a wellness collective that offers psychotherapy, yoga, pilates, retreats, and workshops. After a soft launch in February 2025 and a successful summer on another wharf dock, Floathaus moved to its new permanent location just outside of Muskoka Mind and Body.
“We’re excited to share the beauty of Muskoka with visitors to the region, as well as finding ways to celebrate winter with those of us that hunker down here year-round,” said Clark. “We warmly invite you to experience this restorative space and share in the joy of community connection through the power of the thermal cycle.”
