Table Soup Kitchen in need of volunteers to help unload 53-foot trailer being donated by Sobey’s

The Table Soup Kitchen is receiving a 53-foot trailer from Sobey’s with equipment for the new Table Plaza on Oct. 7 at 9 a.m.

Heather Cassie, Founder and Executive Director of the foundation, said volunteers are needed to help unload the shipment.

“We are receiving a 53-foot truck full of kitchen equipment and chairs and rolling carts and even a pump lift and various things,” said Cassie.

While equipment like a forklift will be available to help unload the truck, she said volunteers should wear steel-toed boots or, at a minimum, closed-toe shoes for safety.

She also mentioned that they will receive a truckload of kitchen supplies at noon that same day, donated by River Walk Restaurant in Bracebridge, which includes a 10-foot stove and oven and a 10-foot warming rack.

Cassie said they will hire a moving company for that because the equipment is too heavy.

She said interested volunteers can sign up and fill out the application on their website.
