President of the Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame Wendy McConnell said the public is invited to nominate local players, builders and teams they feel are deserving of being in the Hall.

After the community nominations are in, McConnell and her committee of nine people vet them.

“Each of us come up with five names that we feel are deserving of going in that year,” said McConnell. “And through sort of a process of elimination, we have to state our case for each one of our five people that’d we’d like to nominate and we scale it down.”

McConnell says they are hoping for a good turn out at this year’s ceremony.

“We really want these people [the inductees] to feel that they’ve accomplished greatness in this community and the community is behind them one hundred percent,” she said.
