YWCA Muskoka and United Way Simcoe Muskoka announced they will receive $374,946 in funding over the next three years for its Circles Muskoka program.
Circles Muskoka, administered by YWCA Muskoka, is a peer support program designed to help individuals and families at risk of homelessness overcome poverty.
The funds are disbursed by the Government of Canada through Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy and will go towards the poverty reduction program in Gravenhurst.
The program will also expand to Bracebridge in the fall of 2026.
“This funding for Circles Muskoka is critical in addressing homelessness and helping community members get the support they need and deserve,” said Gregor Robertson, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure. “The federal government is committed to supporting communities across the country in ensuring every Canadian has a place to call home.”
Jenny Sifft, Circles Muskoka Coordinator, said this funding comes at a critical time as many residents in their communities are struggling with the high cost of living, precarious housing, and limited access to resources.
She adds the program creates opportunities for real, sustainable change by connecting people with the support, relationships and tools they need to thrive.
