Lake of Bays seeks public input on draft Official Plan

The Township of Lake of Bays is seeking public input on its draft Official Plan – a document that will shape the future of land use planning in the area.

The draft Official Plan, currently in phase four, outlines the Township’s policies regarding land use and development, ensuring it reflects the community’s specific needs and aligns with current provincial policies.

“The Township has taken a holistic approach to preparing the Draft Official Plan, considering updated District and Provincial policy, background information and recommendations from the Discussion Papers and Policy Directions Report, direction from Council, stakeholders, and Indigenous communities, as well as public comments received so far,” said township officials.

Interested parties are encouraged to review the Draft Official Plan and submit their comments and questions via the Township’s website.

In addition, the Township will host two public open houses. The first is on August 13 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Dwight municipal office, and the second is on August 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Baysville.

A presentation to council will take place at a Special Council meeting on August 25 at 9 a.m. to give both Council and the public an opportunity to provide comments on the Draft Official Plan.
