The Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Father’s Day early with its annual Car show on June 14 at the Gull Lake Rotary Park.
Teghan Warr, communication coordinator for the Chamber, said this year will be their 32nd annual event.
“The event started in 1994,” she said. “It is the biggest fundraiser here for the Chamber.”
She said many different local businesses get involved in the day, including The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 302, which hosts a breakfast that usually sells out.
“We get people from all over the province to come and enter their cars, and it’s such a fun day,” said Warr. “Gull Lake Park is a beautiful park and allows us to have a lot of cars.”
According to Warr, last year they had about 500 cars on display and just under 3,000 attendees.
“If you want to enter a vehicle in the car show, there’s still lots of space,” said Warr, adding that registration is required but not mandatory.
“If you have a car, as you’re leaving town, we just ask that you stop by Granite Ridge Retirement and just do a loop around their parking lot. A lot of the residents there love to see the old cars,” she said.
The park opens its gates at 9 a.m. Admission is by donation.
