Flooding not expected in Muskoka this week

Weather conditions in and around Huntsville/Lake of Bays is looking pretty good for a gradual spring thaw this week. The Ministry of Natural Resources says warm temps during the day should be met with cooler weather at night to prevent any flooding.

With this week’s forecast, you can expect daytime highs to range from one to 13 degrees with near to below freezing lows at night. Water within the existing snow packed areas throughout local watersheds is about 60 per cent higher than the historical average for early April. But, the MNR says flooding is not expected at this time.

The MNR says you should continue to watch water conditions as we can expect up to 35 millimetres of precipitation across Muskoka from now until Sunday. The MNR is continuing to monitor weather and watershed conditions and will give us updates as needed.
