SMMH offers improved access to specialized health care services

Patients are getting improved access to specialized care in Bracebridge. Recently, South Muskoka Memorial Hospital renovated and relocated its telemedicine office to a larger space. The new studio now allows full patient access for both wheelchairs and stretchers, and also features a dedicated change room, washroom and hand hygiene area. Natalie Bubela, Chief Executive Officer at MAHC says access to specialists is a challenge in rural communities and telemedicine connects patients to specialists in other areas without them having to leave their community.  Between April 1st, 2013 and March 31st of this year more than 2,100 patients accessed health care via telemedicine at MAHC’s two sites.
