Moose FM talks with Huntsville's 'Muskoka Lorax' about Bala Falls controversy

Swift River Energy Ltd. is ‘green washing’ the proposed hydro plant in Bala Falls. That’s according to Muskoka resident Peggy Peterson who has spent over 100 days camping out at the falls to oppose Swift River Energy Ltd’s controversial plan. Peterson, who is also known as the Muskoka Lorax, says Swift River is ‘green washing’ the issue, meaning that while the plant is being promoted as a green energy project, opponents say it will in fact destroy the natural environment there. Peterson adds she’ll stay there permanently until the issue is resolved. She also tells us that Wahta Mohawks Flags, a Turtle Island Flag and a Metis Dream Catcher were taken from the area over the holidays. An orange two person Mountain Equipment Co-op tent and two banners have also gone missing.
