Trek is set to raise money for people with Tourettes
GRAVENHURST, ON-People in Muskoka are being asked to join in the 12th annual Trek for Tourette.
This walk set in Gravenhurst will have people travel along a five-kilometre route in Gravenhurst that will raise money for Tourette Canada.
The funds will help the organization continue its support groups and public awareness outreaches.
Event Organizer Shawn Forth said that he is hoping for 60-70 participants and match or better last year’s funds, “Last year we had over 70 trekkers and we raised $4,000.00.”
Forth said that the trek will happen rain or shine, “the month of March was chosen for the Trek because the weather’s unpredictable just like Tourette.”
Forth said the walks started in 2009 to help raise money for Tourette Canada as they are not government funded. “They were looking for alternative revenue sources, so any money to run the organization is done through donations or fundraisers such as the Trek for Tourette,” said Forth.
The event will be held on March 29th at the Gravenhurst Scout Hall at noon.
